What is the Hourly to Salary Calculator?

This calculator annualizes an hourly wage using the hours and working weeks you enter. It helps employees, contractors, recruiters, and hiring managers compare hourly work with salaries on a consistent gross-pay basis.

The primary annual result is not a promise of earnings: unpaid weeks, changing shifts, overtime, bonuses, taxes, and deductions can all change actual pay.

Hourly to Salary Calculator Formula

Formula

Annual pay = hourly rate × hours per week × working weeks

Weekly pay multiplies the rate by weekly hours. Monthly pay divides the annual result by 12, which is more accurate than treating every month as four weeks.

Hourly rate

Gross compensation earned for one regular hour.

Weekly hours

The ordinary hours expected in a typical working week.

Working weeks

Weeks paid or worked during the year, up to the schedule entered.

Worked Example

Assume a $22.50 hourly rate, 37.5 hours each week, and 48 working weeks.

  1. 1

    Find weekly gross pay

    $22.50 × 37.5 = $843.75

  2. 2

    Annualize the schedule

    $843.75 × 48 = $40,500.00

  3. 3

    Find the monthly equivalent

    $40,500.00 ÷ 12 = $3,375.00

Result

The schedule represents $40,500.00 annual gross pay. It excludes tax, overtime premiums, and earnings during the four weeks not included.

When This Calculator Helps

  • Comparing an hourly job offer with a stated annual salary.
  • Budgeting when weekly hours or working weeks differ from a standard full-time schedule.
  • Explaining how unpaid leave or seasonal work affects annual earnings.

How to Interpret Your Result

The annual figure is the gross cash amount produced by the exact schedule entered. The daily result assumes five workdays per week, while biweekly and monthly figures are pay-period equivalents.

Compare offers using matching assumptions. A higher hourly rate can still yield lower annual pay when it comes with fewer hours or weeks.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Using 52 weeks when several weeks are unpaid.
  • Multiplying weekly pay by four for monthly pay.
  • Adding overtime hours without applying the correct separate premium calculation.

Questions About This Calculation

Does the result include overtime?

No. Enter regular schedule hours here and calculate separately identified overtime with the Overtime Pay Calculator.

Why does working weeks change the answer?

Annual earnings only include the weeks entered. Reducing paid or worked weeks reduces the annual total.

Is the monthly result take-home pay?

No. It is annual gross pay divided by 12 before tax and deductions.
